Are you a seasoned performer with a passion for teaching and directing? Phoenix Youth Theatre is looking for a dynamic individual to join our show team, where you’ll have the opportunity to inspire and educate young performers in acting, singing, and dancing, while also assisting with the coordination of our captivating shows!


About You:

You’re a versatile and experienced performer with a strong background in the performing arts. Your expertise extends beyond the stage to include directing and educating, making you the perfect candidate to lead our shows and mentor our young talent. Your positive energy and enthusiasm for performance shine through in every interaction, creating an unforgettable experience for our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach and direct young performers in acting, singing, and dancing, ensuring a well-rounded education in the performing arts.
  • Lead the creative and logistical aspects of our shows, from concept to curtain call.
  • Create a supportive and engaging learning environment that fosters creativity, collaboration, and self-expression.
  • Serve as a role model and mentor, inspiring students with your passion for the arts and your commitment to excellence.
  • Maintain a high level of energy and positivity, treating each rehearsal and performance as a special event for our students.
  • Collaborate with the theater’s management and staff to ensure a seamless and successful production.


  • Extensive experience in acting, singing, and dancing, with a strong preference for those with teaching and directing experience.
  • Proven ability to engage and inspire young performers, fostering their growth and development in the arts.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, capable of managing the demands of directing a show.
  • A positive, energetic personality, with the ability to create a fun and dynamic learning environment.
  • A commitment to professionalism, reliability, and the highest standards of conduct in the arts.
  • Must successfully pass a background check as a condition of employment.

Location: Phoenix Youth Theatre
Employment Type: Contractor
Hours: Average 5 hours per week per show. Tech/show weeks require more commitment.
Contract Length: Show contracts vary from three to eight months long.
Compensation: Competitive rate
